Autists And Their Animals

Autists And Their Animals is a zine exploring autistic people’s relationships with animals. A poem of mine, titled Daisy features in the zine and is about my friendship with my childhood pet, a springer spaniel cross, who was my best friend growing up. Daisy eased my anxiety and stress and brought much joy into my life. She kept me company when I felt isolated and alone and always gave me love and affection no matter how I was feeling. I didn’t know I was autistic growing up but upon reflection, Daisy was very much a support dog. She passed away in 2018 and this poem is to honour her memory and showcase the value of friendships with animals.
