Compassionate Communities

The Compassionate Communities exhibition at the Art Place explores death, grief and bereavement. Many of us find these topics difficult to talk about and a stark reminder why this exhibition is so important." The End Never Meets Death" is a poem about my wonderful grandmother, who has just turned one hundred and two years old. At some point in the future, she will no longer be with us and I wished to explore my fear, worries and grief through poetry.

Not only was this poem inspired by my grandmother but also by the legendary poet, Emily Dickinson. Death featured heavily in her work and I find myself perceiving death as a transition, a metamorphosis, rather than an end. I'm incredibly thankful to be part of this meaningful exhibition. I hope my poem helps others process and acknowledge similar worries and fears.
